Jonathan Taylor Fantasy Outlook 2026: RB4 With The Quarterback Variance Priced Out
Taylor finished as the RB4 last season after averaging 25 points per game with Daniel Jones and 13 without him. The board, ESPN, and ADP all agree at eight overall because Jones is expected back Week 1.

Why three sources agree at eight overall
Our board has Jonathan Taylor 8 overall and RB4 at running back with 261.0 implied PPR points. ESPN ranks him 7 and drafters take him at 7.8. There is no gap to exploit and no disagreement to parse.
The consensus exists because last season answered the only question that mattered going into it. Sportsbooks had posted him at 1,175.5 rushing yards and 9.5 rushing touchdowns before 2025, pricing in real injury concern after he had missed significant time in prior years. He played all 17 games, led the league in carries, ran for 1,585 yards, and scored 18 rushing touchdowns.
That 18-touchdown total is not a typo and it is not a projection anyone saw coming. It was the highest mark among all running backs and nearly double what the market expected. He also caught 46 passes for 378 yards and two receiving scores, clearing his 22.77 reception line by 23 catches and his 175.5 receiving yards line by over 200 yards.
With Daniel Jones under center he averaged 25 fantasy points per game. Without Jones that number dropped to 13, and Jones is expected back Week 1.
The Daniel Jones split that explains the price
Taylor averaged 25 fantasy points per game in weeks when Daniel Jones started at quarterback. In games without Jones that number fell to 13. That is not a small difference and it is not a sample-size fluke across a full season.
Jones is expected to start Week 1 for Indianapolis after being acquired in the offseason, which is why the current market has Taylor posted near 1,250 rushing yards and 11.5 rushing touchdowns for 2026. The projection has come down from what he actually did last season, but it has come down to a number that assumes Jones plays most of the year.
