Jaylen Warren Fantasy Outlook 2026: The Market Still Treats Him Like a Handcuff
Warren ran for 958 yards on 52% of Pittsburgh's carries and finished as RB17, yet the draft room waits until pick 74.4 while our board has him 19 spots earlier at 93.
The disagreement is about whether last season was real
Our board has Jaylen Warren 93 overall with 161.0 implied PPR points. The draft room does not take him until 74.4. That is a gap of 19 picks, which in a 12-team league means he is available two full rounds later than his projection suggests.
The sportsbooks posted him at 588 rushing yards before last season. He ran for 958. They had him at 4.5 rushing touchdowns and he scored six. They projected 34.5 receptions and he caught 40. The market missed badly, yet the draft room is still treating him like a handcuff rather than the back who just commanded 52% of his team's rush attempts and finished RB17.

What changed from 511 yards to 958
Warren played 16 games in both 2024 and 2025, so the yardage jump was not about availability. What changed was opportunity. He averaged 10.3 rush attempts per game in 2025, up from 7.1 the year before, and the efficiency held at 4.6 yards per carry.
The receiving work also stabilized. He caught 40 of 45 targets for an 89% catch rate, which is unusually high for a running back and suggests the role was designed rather than situational. Five of his 16 games cleared 20 PPR points, with a ceiling week of 29.1 and five games under 10.
Why Pittsburgh signed Rico Dowdle anyway
Dowdle got a two-year deal, which is not the contract you give a pure backup. Pittsburgh is planning a committee, and the most likely structure is a 60-40 split that leans toward Warren but gives Dowdle enough work to matter.
