Rico Dowdle Fantasy Outlook 2026: The Market Leaves Him 29 Picks Too Late
Dowdle has posted back-to-back 1,300-yard seasons on 4.6 yards per carry, finishing RB18 last year, and the draft room still waits until pick 111 to take him — 29 spots after our board does.
The disagreement is about Pittsburgh, not Dowdle
Our board ranks Rico Dowdle 71 overall with 172.0 implied PPR points. ESPN has him 88. The draft room waits until 137.3 to take him, which is 66 spots later than our projection says he is worth.
That gap exists because he signed with Pittsburgh, where Jaylen Warren already plays, and the market assumes a committee splits the backfield into fantasy irrelevance. That assumption is not unreasonable, but it is pricing Dowdle as if he did not just post back-to-back 1,300-yard seasons on 4.6 yards per carry while commanding 51% of his team's rush attempts.
The market confidence on Dowdle is low — sportsbooks have posted only a rushing yards prop, nothing on touchdowns or receptions — which means the projection itself is uncertain. But the ADP discount is not uncertain. It is 29 picks, and that is too many for a back who has done this twice in a row.

What he actually did in 2025, and what the market thought he would do
Sportsbooks posted Dowdle at 437.5 rushing yards before last season. He ran for 1,076, beating the line by 638 yards. They had him at 21 receptions for 142 yards; he caught 39 for 297. The only category where he came in under projection was receiving touchdowns, where he scored one against a 0.5 line.
He finished as the RB18 in fantasy with 216.3 PPR points across 17 games, averaging 12.7 per week. That is not a league-winner, but it is a high-end RB3 who played a full season and cleared 1,000 rushing yards for the second year running.
