Jeremiyah Love Fantasy Outlook 2026: Rookie RB With The Touches, Without The Consensus
Love enters a backfield with no established starter and joins a nine-year streak of top-12 drafted backs finishing top-12 as rookies, but ESPN ranks him 13th overall while our board sits at 26.
Where the agreement is and where it is not
Our board ranks Jeremiyah Love 36 overall with 206.0 implied PPR points. ESPN has him 19. The draft room takes him at 47.6. That is not consensus — it is a 13-pick range with real money riding on which number is right.
The agreement is on opportunity. Arizona has no returning back who handled more than 80 carries last season, and Love was the third overall pick in a draft class where college efficiency metrics pointed to him as the safest bet. He forced missed tackles at a 3.5% rate and averaged 6.66 yards per carry, the best marks in this rookie class on both counts.
The disagreement is on how much immediate production that opportunity converts into. ESPN is pricing in something close to 1,400 scrimmage yards and double-digit touchdowns. Our board is pricing in 825 rushing yards, 392 receiving yards, and 7.5 total touchdowns. Both project him as a three-down back. Only one projects him as a top-12 finisher in year one.
Nine straight top-12 drafted backs finished top-12 as rookies, but that pattern does not tell you whether he finishes ninth or twelfth, and the difference is 26 PPR points.
What the rookie-back pattern does and does not promise
The case for the higher ranking leans on a clean historical pattern: nine straight running backs drafted in the top 12 have finished as top-12 fantasy backs in their rookie seasons. Love was pick three, which puts him inside that range with room to spare.
That streak is real and it reflects something structural about how NFL teams deploy premium draft capital at the position. When a front office spends a top-12 pick on a back, the coaching staff uses him immediately because the opportunity cost of not using him is too high. Love fits that profile, and Arizona has no veteran standing in the way.
