Why the market remembers 2024 more than 2025

Our board ranks Chris Olave 24 overall with 226.0 implied PPR points. ESPN has him 26. Both systems agree he is a top-30 pick and the 12th receiver off the board. The draft room takes him at 32.8, six picks later.

That gap exists because drafters are pricing the injury-shortened 2024 season — when he appeared in only nine games — more heavily than the 2025 bounce-back. Last year he played 16 games and posted career highs in targets (156), receptions (100), yards (1,163), and touchdowns (nine). He finished sixth among receivers and 26th overall with 268 PPR points.

The sportsbooks had him at 66.5 receptions, 813 receiving yards, and 3.5 touchdowns going into 2025. He beat the catch line by 33.5, the yardage line by 350 yards, and the touchdown line by 5.5. That is not a small miss — every component came in well above the projection — and it happened because the market treated 2024's injury as a baseline instead of an interruption.

The volume is real and the efficiency was not fluky

Olave commanded 28% of his team's targets in 2025 and ranked seventh among all receivers in air yards (1,816), end zone targets (12), and total targets. Those are not peripheral stats — they measure how an offense deploys its top weapon when it needs a first down or a score.

Five of his 16 games cleared 20 PPR points, including a 36.8-point ceiling week in Week 16. Three games came in under 10, with a 6.0-point floor in Week 14. The weekly volatility is higher than most WR1s, but the bust games were concentrated in a four-week stretch from Week 11 through Week 14, not scattered randomly across the season.
